About
Born in Rolvsoy, Fredrikstad in 1796, Hans Nielsen Hauge was a farmer/preacher who spoke up against the Church establishment in Norway. He is known for creating the Christian movement organisation, Haugean, which gained reasonable influence and popularity throughout the country. Amongst other things, he was also an industrialist, responsible for creating several factories and mills around the country.
