The Cobalt Mines are a part of the Cobalt Works Museum. The Royal Cobalt Works were established i 1776 for the purpose of extracting cobalt ore from the mines. The mining adventure lasted for 120 years. Today we have three different guided tours in the old mines: - Children's Tour, a nice introduction to the mines for the whole family. 1 hour. - Historical Tour, our most popular tour with spectacular attraction. Underground suspension bridge and "floating" glass floor are highlights on this tour where you learn about the exciting history of the mines. 1,5 hour. - Mine Safari, our most spectacular tour! Get all the highlights of the historical tour before we go deeper into the mines. Experience the enormous underground halls, climb ladders and stairs and get the feeling of being a real mine worker. To join this tour you have to be 10 years old. 3 hours. At the Cobalt Mines we have a cafeteria, The Miner's Inn, several exhibitions about the mining and the Theodor Kittelsen Museum.
