Mo Farm
About
The fairy tale farm Mo Gard has historical roots and is well worth visiting for those who are interested in Norway’s cultural heritage. Here, he grew up - Jorgen Moe -who is well known from the Norwegian fairy tales of Asbjornsen and Moe. The houses stand as they did at the time of Jorgen Moe, and here you can still feel the fairy tale atmosphere over the farm yard. A large memorial stone was erected here in 1913 to commemorate the birth of Jorgen Moe a century ago. The pilgrim route passes next to the Mo farm. The Lamyra nature reserve with its remarkable fauna and flora is located on the farm area. A forest trail has also been laid out around the pond Motjern for those who want to wander on historical grounds. Today the farm is being run on modern principles, and they live of the production of grain and seed as well as meat production. The Hereford cattle is especially reknown for its excellent flavour. Visits must be booked ahead of time.
