About

The historic Wielopolski Palace is located in the Częstocice district in Ostrowiec Świętokrzyski. It was built at the end of the 19th century for Maria and Zygmunt Wielopolski, the then owners of the Ostrowiec estate. Today it is the seat of one of the two branches of the Historical and Archaeological Museum. The two-storey building with a magnificent colonnaded portico was designed by the architect Leandro Marconi in an eclectic style. Its front is decorated with the coats of arms of the owners of the palace – on the left side of the Wielopolski family (Starykoń) and on the right side of the Laski family (own coat of arms). From 2022, after a thorough renovation, permanent and temporary exhibitions can be seen in the period interiors. The palace is surrounded by a historic park with an interesting tree stand. In its area there is a multicultural archaeological site. Discovered here, among others remains of blast furnaces from the first centuries of our era.
