Our LGBT+ tour, guided by André Murraças (award-winning theatre director and renowned LGBT researcher), takes you on a fascinating journey through the city, revealing the legendary figures who have shaped the history of the queer community in Portugal. What to Expect from Our Tours? • Explore Chiado, Bairro Alto, and Príncipe Real, epicenters of Lisbon's LGBT+ life, filled with stories of resistance, art, and celebration. • Iconic Figures like António Botto, a 20th-century openly gay poet; António Variações, an innovative musician and one of the first HIV victims; and Ana de Gonta Colaço, a sculptor and garçonne. • Spaces: bookstores, cafés, and bars that have been and continue to be refuges for the LGBT+ community in the city. • Stories of Resistance and Pride: historic milestones of LGBT+ activism in Lisbon, from the early movements to recent achievements.
