Quinta da Fonte Souto is the Symington family’s first estate outside of the Douro Valley, set in the incredible surroundings of Portalegre in the Alto Alentejo. Our family has been farming and producing wine in the Douro for 135 years, crossing five generations. Guests to Quinta da Fonte Souto can choose from several vineyard walks or by bike, all featuring spectacular views of the neighbouring Serra de São Mamede Nature Park. Tours also take in the barrel cellar and the old kitchen, before returning to our new tasting room to enjoy some of our wines. 43 of Fonte Souto’s 207 hectares are under vine, and are joined by substantial chestnut groves, which give the estate its ‘Souto’name. An additional 100 hectares are forested, of which a third is dedicated to the quintessential Alentejo cork oak.
