The name of the Church of Cabeca Santa is associated with the devotion of D. Mafalda, the granddaughter of king D. Afonso Henriques, to the relic of a holy element that was kept there the “Cabeca Santa” [that means Holy Head]. This Church is an excellent example to understand the Portuguese Romanesque architecture.
