Gradina Botanica "Alexandru Borza"
About
The Cluj‑Napoca Botanical Garden, officially known as the Alexandru Borza University Botanic Garden, is a sprawling 14‑hectare oasis nestled in the south part of the city. Founded in 1872, it has grown into one of Romania’s most extensive green spaces, boasting over 10,000 plant species from every part of the world. Visitors wander through themed sections—including ornamental, phytogeographic, systematic, economic, and medicinal galleries—each curated to showcase a different aspect of botanical diversity. The garden’s collections are complemented by six purpose‑built greenhouses that house tropical palms, orchids, bromeliads, succulents and an expansive aquatic garden. A historic water tower, now open to the public, offers panoramic views of the park, while the Roman Garden preserves ancient archaeological remains, including a statue of the goddess Ceres. Together, these attractions make the botanical garden a must‑visit destination for nature lovers, history enthusiasts and families seeking a serene escape from city life.
