MARQ Museo Arqueologico de Alicante
About
MARQ (Museo Arqueológico de Alicante) invites visitors to explore the rich archaeological heritage of the Valencian Community. Housed in a renovated 19th‑century hospital building on Plaza Dr. Gómez Ulla, the museum spans several thematic galleries—from Pre‑history and Iberian cultures to Roman, Medieval and Modern periods—interspersed with interactive displays, audiovisual exhibits, and reconstructions of local settlements. The collection showcases significant artifacts such as the Venus of Marco, votive offerings, and a comprehensive representation of the city of Lucentum, the ancient Roman capital of Alicante. In addition to its permanent collection, MARQ hosts temporary exhibitions that bring world‑class artifacts and thematic reenactments to the city, often in collaboration with international museums such as the British Museum and the Hermitage. Guided tours are available in Spanish, Valencian and English, offering deeper insight into the region’s past.
