El Sortidor
About
El Sortidor, a landmark of the Poble Sec neighbourhood, traces its roots back to 1908 where it served ice and snacks to locals. Reopened in 2017 under the stewardship of El sortidor de la Filomena Pagès, the restaurant preserves its early 20th‑century modernist style with original doors, marble tables, and wooden chairs, offering a warm, intimate setting. The menu, curated by head chef David Sanmartin, blends traditional Catalan fare with a touch of contemporary flair, featuring classic tapas, paella, and signature dishes such as patatas bravas and arroz negro con calamares. Guests can dine from 1 pm to 5 pm and again from 8 pm to 10:30 pm, with Sunday lunch only. Reservations are recommended but not mandatory, and a convenient online booking system is available through the restaurant’s website.
