Puig de Pollenca
About
The Puig de Maria, also known as the Santuari de la Mare de Déu del Puig, is a modest hill that overlooks the town of Pollenca in the North of Mallorca. The 330 m summit hosts a historic monastery, a charming chapel and a cosy restaurant serving authentic Mallorquian cuisine. A 2.2 km walk – amiable for hikers of all ages – offers spectacular views of Majorca’s countryside, the town of Pollenca, Port de Pollenca and Alcudia. The trail is gentle, though the final stretch is treacherous and slippery, so sensible footwear is recommended. Once at the top, visitors can relax in the monastery’s dining room, enjoy a simple lunch or dinner, or grab a quick snack before heading back down. The site is free to access and is ideal for families, hikers, food lovers and history enthusiasts alike.
