El Silencio Beach
About
Playa del Silencio, also known as Gavieiro, is one of Asturias’ most enchanting stretches of sand. Nestled in a rocky cove protected by towering cliffs and small islands, the beach offers a tranquil escape where the roar of the Cantabrian Sea is muted into a gentle lullaby. A 500‑metre walk down a series of stairs leads to a nearly pristine shore that, despite its popularity, remains largely untouched thanks to the absence of facilities. The beach’s secluded character makes it a favoured spot for early‑morning sunbathers and those seeking a quiet retreat. Visitors should note that pets are prohibited between 1 June and 30 September, with leash restrictions during other months. With its crystal‑clear waters, soft golden sand and dramatic cliffs, Playa del Silencio is a must‑visit for anyone looking to experience the raw beauty of the Atlantic coastline.
