About
The Templo de Diana, perched on Calle Romero Leal in the historic center of Mérida, is a Roman temple that once dominated the Forum of Augusta Emerita. Built of local granite and covered with stucco, the monument is surrounded by columns that once rose on a three‑metre podium. Despite the loss of its interior stairway, the temple’s foundations and remnants still evoke the civic and religious life of ancient Mérida. Today, visitors can roam the site freely, enjoying the echoes of antiquity amid the modern city. This free, open‑to‑public attraction offers a tangible glimpse into Roman urban planning and civic reverence that remains one of the city’s most intriguing landmarks.
