Chalet Sofia is a truly unique find as it has it all, from the cosy open fire to the outstanding relax area with sauna and outdoor hot tub along with excellent entertainment facilities for adults and children alike make this spacious chalet a great ski or mountain holiday for the entire family. This spectacular new freestanding Chalet with its beautiful old wood exterior is traditionally Swiss but once inside the kitchen and bathrooms showcase ultra modern high quality design and function. The Chalet is set in a quiet secluded private location in the prestine mountain nature but only 2 minutes walk to the Murren BLM train station with a 5 minute ride or walk to the ski- lifts. From the Chalet's large balcony's you will be a part of the grand spectacle of nature when you enjoy breathtaking panoramic views of the legendary mountains of Eiger, Munch and Jungfrau. The free standing Chalet has three floors where the top floor is dedicated to stylish open plan living. Comfortably seating 12 around a large french style wooden table and state of the art kitchen. With a large open stone fire place at its heart. Double height ceilings with many windows and surrounded by balconies all facing the spectacular Jungfrau massive and the legendary north wall of the Eiger. Chalet Layout: The main entrance is located on the first floor which has a separate ski room for all ski equipment. On entering Chalet Sofia you have a large boot room with many hooks for coats and a ski boot warmer for 16 pairs of ski boots. On the first floor there is also a laundry room and the wellness spa which has a spacious Swedish sauna/steam room and a large covered Jacuzzi outside overlooking the most famous views in the Swiss Alps: Eiger, Monch and Jungfrau mountains. This is the perfect place to relax after-skiing while listening to your favourite music. There is also a separate shower and w/c. And a very well stocked wine cellar on this level. The winding broad stair case that runs through the whole chalet then leads onto the second floor where 4 spacious bedrooms are located. Bedroom 1 - Kingsize bed with double french doors opening onto a sun terrace. Bedroom 2, 3 and 4 - All have 1 queen size bed and 3 singles configured in a bunk bed fashion. 2 of the bedrooms open out onto there own balconies with lounge area and un-interupted views of the surrounding mountains. The set-up of the bedrooms allows flexibility to accommodate many different group/family configurations. On this level there are 2 bathrooms with a separate w/c and shower. The family entertainment room is also on the second floor with cosy sofas and a movie theatre with a surround sound system. The stairs then lead to the 3rd floor of Chalet Sofia and the most spectacular open plan living with vaulted ceilings and a state of the art kitchen. A large french style dining table that comfortably seats 12 while listening to the Bose surround sound music system. There are cosy sofas in-front of the large stone open fire place. The whole 3rd floor is surrounded by balconies where you can seat 12 for lunch or have a cosy kitchen breakfast while being surrounded by the tranquil mountains. The master bedroom is on the 3rd floor that has a king size bed and a working cosy fireplace with double doors opening onto your private terrace with comfy chairs to sit and have your morning coffee in the sunshine while listening to the singing birds. Bedroom 5 has its own en-suite bathroom with delux shower and w/c. There is also a separate w/c on this level. Murren is a cosy mountain village situated at 1650m at the foot of the ski mountain Schilthorn 2970m on a ridge of a 800m cliff drop above the Lauterbrunnen valley right across of the impressive Jungfrau massive. Murren is by many referred to as the most beautiful ski resort in the world. The village is car free and only reached by cable car/train. The cable car that leaves from Lauterbrunnen is reached by car from International airports in Bern (1 hour) Zurich, Basel and Geneva in approximate (2 hours) or by train in just over 3 hours. Murren ski area is connected to two other ski resorts in Berner Oberland, Wengen and Grindelwald. Together they form the ski area Jungfrau that includes 44 lifts, 213km of pist with 98 different trails including the most famous one - The Lauberhorn Rennen in Wengen, the Alpine World Cup's longest downhill race. Murren is the birthplace of alpine skiing. It was here ski tourism was born in the early 1900s and the first competition in slalom was arranged here in 1922. Since then Murren is one of the few exclusive ski resorts that has arranged Alpine World Championship twice, the first one in the history was 1931. The relative few number of hotels and tourist beds in Murren versus the size of the lift system is unusual in the Alps and results in a laid back and relaxing atmosphere without any queuing at the lifts.
