World of Owls
About
World of Owls is Northern Ireland’s flagship wildlife sanctuary, home to one of the UK’s largest and most diverse collections of owls. Nestled in the serene Randalstown Forest, the centre offers visitors an immersive experience that blends education, conservation and adventure. From indoor exhibits packed with hidden‑winged marvels to expansive outdoor gardens that showcase the owls’ natural habitat, guests can explore on their own pace or join guided tours led by volunteer experts. The centre boasts a small café for refreshments, a play area for children, and a shop stocked with themed gifts and educational materials. Open to the public without the need for prior booking, World of Owls welcomes families, school groups and nature enthusiasts alike, and offers free admission to sponsors and charitable visitors. As a registered charity, the facility is run entirely by unpaid volunteers, many of whom are specialist coaches in veterinary science, wildlife rescue and educational outreach. The centre’s mission is to rescue, conserve and educate about owls, accompanied by broader projects such as the Philippine Eagle Foundation partnership and community job‑skill training. Visitors are encouraged to stay for the duration of their visit – a typical outing ranges from 2 to 4 hours depending on interest – and to experience the interactive displays, guided talks, and behind‑the‑scenes visits to the rescue and research teams.
