About
St Andrew’s is an ancient church. Indeed, it is one of only two churches in the local area, mentioned in the 1087 Domesday Book, and pre-dates the buildings of Holy Trinity in Skipton and St Mary’s in Bolton Abbey. We have much history in St Andrew’s, from bits of viking crosses, to a letter from Florence Nightingale, to an ancient parish chest, to a tomb that could be of a crusader ….. the list goes on. Do come and visit us and see over 1000 years of history for yourself. St Andrew’s church is classified as a “Major Church” in the Church of England, alongside the Cathedrals and some of the most important parish churches in the country.
