Ye Olde Hobnails Inn - Family Pub
About
Ye Olde Hobnails Inn is a charming, historic Inn and restaurant that dates back to 1473 located in Little Washbourne, on the edge of the Cotswolds. Our Grade II listed building exudes bags of character with its exposed beams, open fireplaces and agricultural implements adorning the walls. We have a beer garden and are on a public footpath, Ye Olde Hobnails Inn has a rich history and even a ghost! Reputedly the ghost is of an eight-year-old boy who drowned in a tunnel that links the pub to a nearby chapel. But don't be frightened, he's friendly. Nobody is quite sure where the name 'Hobnails' originates from but an agricultural link has been suggested; Hobnails on the soles of boots. Hobnails were made in the Tewkesbury Nail Making Industry (But not the manicure type!) Another possible source is that the name 'Hob' was given to the name of the Devil and its links to alcohol... But searches in archives have revealed no certain answer.
