The Kennet & Avon Canal Trust is a registered charity that has restored the historic 87‑mile waterway linking Reading to Bristol. The Trust’s work preserves an iconic part of England’s industrial heritage while offering a range of activities for visitors of all ages. Guests can board one of the five public day‑trip boats that run from multiple points along the canal, see historic pumping stations, explore the Devizes Museum and the Crofton Beam Engines, and visit a growing number of licensed cafés and pubs situated on the towpath. Beyond boat trips, the Trust encourages active recreation on the peaceful towpaths, supporting walking, cycling and paddling. Volunteer opportunities are plentiful, from maintaining gardens at the Canal Trust Café to assisting with boat operations and archiving historic documents. Whether you are a history enthusiast, a nature lover or simply looking for a leisurely day out, the canal offers a unique blend of learning, culture and outdoor leisure.
