Lindores Abbey Distillery
About
Lindores Abbey Distillery is the spiritual home of Scotch whisky, re‑opened after a 523‑year pause in 2017. The distillery sits within the historic abbey ruins in Newburgh, Fife, where modern copper stills produce award‑winning single‑malt spirits. Guided tours run hourly at 10 am, 12:30 pm and 2:30 pm, with visitors taking a walk through the stills, learning about maturation and sampling the 2021 single‑malt releases. An exclusive cask‑ownership programme lets guests purchase a private bourbon cask starting at £4,000, receiving a bottle of their own whisky once it is bottled and aged. Summer hours (March–October) see the distillery open 7 days a week from 10 am to 4 pm, while winter operating days are limited to Wednesday–Sunday with tours on selected days. Refreshments are available on pre‑booked visits, and visitors are encouraged to book in advance through the online system.
