Himalaya Tibetan Cafe
About
The Himalaya, a tiny corner of Tibet in this multi-cultural city of Edinburgh, serving traditional Tibetan food (although yak meat has been replaced by veggies) and a taste of north India, Nepal, and the wider region of the Himalayas. Bur we are more than just a cafe - we are a community and we welcome everyone. The beating heart of the cafe, is Reka, assisted by a small team of volunteers, and trainees on work experience. From Tibet we serve momos, traditional soups, stir-fried chicken and veggie dishes. From India and beyond, we have a selection of veggie/vegan curries and Reka is known locally as creating the absolute very best chai in town. But we don’t insist that you order chai, we also have a selection of teas, herbal teas, coffee and cakes. The warm community spirit is inviting, making your first visit to the Himalaya one to remember. We also offer suspended meals to homeless people - a “pay-it-forward” scheme, which we hope will eventually engulf the whole city (or further.)
