The Five Pilchards Inn
About
Our early 18th Century Inn sits on the beach which marks the midway point of the 630 mile world renowned South West Coast Path Walk. 5 newly refurbished en-suite rooms offer comfort and a base to explore the hidden areas of South West Cornwall and The Lizard Peninsula. All five ensuite bedrooms were fully refurbished in early 2020, with brand-new bedroom furniture and bathroom fittings. The spacious rooms - four of which have a sea view - have been styled for maximum relaxation and comfort, in cool coastal green and grey. All are furnished with either a super-king or king-sized bed, which can be reconfigured to offer twin rooms. The Five Pilchards is a favourite place with locals and visitors alike and our dining experience boasts a varied changing menu with many local homemade specials. Rooms feature cooling coastal colours along with flat screen smart tvs, tea and coffee making facilities and bottled water. Our knowledgeable staff are on hand to advise on local and traditional ales, ciders and menus, as well as the best places to visit in this beautiful corner of Cornwall. The traditional open fireplace warms and glows from the heart of the bar and walls adorned with historical images, many provided by the local villagers, stretching back over 200 years, provide an insight into our coastal village. The Five Pilchards Inn stands in a unique position at the mid point of the South West Coast Path National Trail. This inspiring coastal walk stretches for 630 miles between Minehead in Somerset, along the coast of Devon and Cornwall, to Poole in Dorset. As England’s longest waymarked footpath, the trails captures heritage, wildlife, geology and extraordinary scenery along the way, and is one of the best walks in the world. Local attractions include Poldark Mine, the Cornish Seal Sanctuary, Flambards Theme Park, and the National Trust’s Godolphin Estate with its medieval garden and historic house. The Museum of Cornish Life displays thousands of objects over three floors within Helston’s historic market buildings, providing a fascinating insight into local traditions. Dogs are welcome, both in the bar and restaurant areas, and Children up to 12 are also welcome to share in three of our five king and super king rooms.
