Kingshouse Hotel
About
The Kings House Hotel is a remote Highland inn perched at the eastern end of Glen Co e, a mere two kilometres east of Glen Etive and overlooking the dramatic peaks of Buachaille Etive Mor. Built in the late eighteenth century as a coaching inn on the old military road that now forms part of the West Highland Way, the building has survived wars, leisure use and extensive modernisation. In 1959 a sensitive refurbishment opened the first modernised accommodation, and in 2019 a complete rebuild saw the 1960‑s extension demolished and the original 18th‑century structure incorporated into a new 57‑bedroom hotel with hostel facilities. The site remains a favourite stop for rock climbers, walkers and skiers from the nearby White Corries resort, offering locally‑produced food, a bar and restaurant, an in‑house spa, and meeting rooms. With bold, rugged scenery framing every room, the Kings House Hotel is celebrated as both a heritage landmark and an accessible base for exploring the Scottish highlands.
