Horama House
About
Horama House is a haven of peace and tranquility, built in 2007 to a very high specification and designed to take advantage of its unique location adjacent to a nature reserve and on the Duddon estuary, with unrivalled panoramic views of the Lakeland mountains. There is wheelchair access from the ample tarmac carpark and all guest facilities are on the ground floor The guests’ sitting room/breakfast room is in the Atrium where air fryer, microwave, toaster, fridge, freezer, cutlery and crockery are available for guests who wish to prepare own meals. The Atrium opens onto the estuary garden ( wild flowers in Spring and Summer) - here there are tables and seating on the patio. Exiting from our estuary garden gate, turn left and walk alongside the water’s edge of the wildlife rich Duddon Estuary through the 20 ha Local Nature Reserve which has been awarded a number of national and international conservation designations. The town is a 20 minute walk through the Nature Reserve. Millom is a quaint former industrial town with a heritage museum and visitor centre - a grade 1 listed Norman building, The Holy Trinity Church and the remains of Millom Castle are nearby. The town has various eating places providing quality and variety, supermarkets, a garage and a train station. Exiting the garden gate right, the path is beside the former Millom pier and leads to a secluded beach. A few kilometres further will take you to the hide and lagoon of RSPB Hodbarrow - a little further is the village of Haverigg with nearby beaches, sand dunes, cafe and children’s playground.
