Lullingstone Roman Villa
About
The Lullingstone Roman Villa is one of Britain’s most well‑preserved Roman domestic sites, located in the Darent Valley near the Kent village of Eynsford. Built around AD 100 and expanded over three centuries, the villa showcases luxurious features such as a heated bath suite, a dining room with intricate mosaics of the abduction of Europa, and a unique underground pagan cult‑room that later became an early Christian chapel. Today visitors can explore painted wall scenes of water deities, view Roman‑era mosaics, and experience a film and light show that animates the ruins. Free entry is available for families with up to six children accompanied by an adult member, while adult tickets remain modestly priced. The site also offers interactive play areas and Roman‑era board games, making it a vibrant educational experience for all ages.
