About

The Ferry Inn is an ancient, Seventeenth Century pub and restaurant that was the home of the ferry between the Isle-of-Oxney and the English mainland at Appledore. It is situated in the midst of beautiful countryside between Tenterden, Appledore, Stone-in-Oxney and Wittersham and adjoins the historic Saxon Shore Way. It is also only 6 miles away from Rye and Camber Sands. The Ferry Inn, also known as the Oxney Ferry, enjoys late sun and beautiful views all year round from the pub's front terrace and riverside garden. It offers an extensive selection of award winning ales and fine wines in both its restaurant and bar areas. The Ferry Restaurant offers locally sourced, freshly prepared and cooked food in a beautiful countryside surrounding. A selection of freshly caught fish is available year round, and specials in the winter months include a selection of locally sourced game. The Ferry Inn is nearly 300 years old. Wally Milstead, who was the Landlord of the Ferry for over 30 years, provides a potted history. The Saxon Shore Way, which passes right by the Ferry, is a 163 mile walk along the coastline of Roman times . The Ferry is tucked away on the South-Eastern edge of the Isle of Oxney, on the old road through Stone from Wittersham to Appledore.
