Leslie Castle is one of the last fortified Baronial castles in Scotland. It was built on the lands given to the first Leslie, Bartholomew, from whom all members of the Clan Leslie are descended. In 1651-1661 William Forbes of Leslie had extensive repairs undertaken and fortified it with many defensive structures which have been preserved in the current building. Although it fell into a ruinous state thereafter it was rescued and renovated under the guidance of Historic Scotland in the 1980's and is now open to guests. There are 6 en-suite rooms available from April to September on a bed and breakfast basis.
