About

The Heritage Centre is a modern building constructed, in part, from three historic buildings. Within the building we have two Heritage Rooms with displays providing an insight into the history of the villages of Mountsorrel and Rothley. Granite's Coffee shop is also housed within the building. Outside you can find the Nunckley Trail, our half mile nature and history walk which winds its way through the woodland south of Nunckley Hill, and the shorter Spinney Trail with den building area for the children. The Mountsorrel Railway has a platform in the base of the quarry, a small railway museum, and narrow and standard gauge sidings. A further exhibition building includes displays covering the Geology of Charnwood Forest, quarrying at Mountsorrel, and the history of the Mountsorrel Railway, including the story of its restoration Please note if your Sat Nav does not understand LE7 7UE then use LE7 7SJ.
