St. John The Baptist Church
About
Our grade 2* listed building dates from the 14th century, and is closely linked with the RAF and the Red Arrows. It sits just one mile from RAF Scampton (where the Dambusters Squadron was formed). The church has always been the church of RAF Scampton since 1916. Along with the Commonwealth War Graves Commission, we are the guardians of 107 Commonwealth War and Service Graves. The building is used for community activities and we welcome many visitors to view the RAF heritage here which includes a stunning contemporary RAF stained glass window to commemorate 100 years close relationship with RAF Scampton, and a peaceful RAF chapel. The RAF chapel holds the original squadron shields and honour boards from the officers mess at RAF Scampton and other RAF heritage artefacts. Being on the Lincolnshire Aviation Heritage Trail we attract both local and international visitors. This heritage trail includes: The IBCC in Lincoln, and The Dambusters Inn at Scampton
