About
St. Chad's is the Church of England parish church for the town of Kirkby, working with St. Andrew's Church in Tower Hill and St. Martin's Church in Southdene. The current building dates back to 1871, replacing an older building, that itself replaced a mediaeval church. The church font is around 900 years old, and the churchyard is an ancient and beautiful space, with many graves older than the church, and peregrine falcons nesting in the tower. St. Chad's has a collection of beautiful stained glass windows by Henry Holiday, and a stunning mosaic designed by Holiday and made in Venice.
