Fortune Theatre
About
Fortune Theatre – one of the West End’s most intimate venues – sits on Russell Street in Covent Garden. Opened in 1924, the 432‑seat theatre is Britain’s second‑smallest West End house and was Grade II listed in 1994. Its Italianate façade and historic concrete construction make it a beloved architectural landmark, and its bronze twin‑door entrance leads into a marble‑lined foyer that has welcomed legends such as Judi Dench and Alan Bennett. Over the last 33 years, the Fortune staged the long‑running hit *The Woman in Black*, and today it stages the popular musical *Operation Mincemeat*. With a single main auditorium, the venue offers visitors a cosy yet classic theatrical experience.
