About
Jewel Tower, tucked between Westminster Abbey and the Houses of Parliament, is a compact English Heritage site that offers a vivid journey through England’s Tudor and early modern history. Visitors can wander three floors of displays that include the site’s original role as a royal Tudor storeroom, the House of Lords record archive, and later the National Weights and Measures Office. Digital reconstructions of Westminster Hall, St Stephen’s church and the Palace of Westminster give an impression of the historic interiors before the 1834 fire, while artefacts such as 11th‑century Westminster capitals and an Anglo‑Saxon palace sword bring the period to life. The site is free to enter, but a £4.50 guidebook is available for purchase.
