About
Waterstones Booksellers Ltd was founded in 1982 by Tim Waterstone and has become the United Kingdom’s largest bookshop chain, operating over 300 stores across the UK, Ireland, Belgium, the Netherlands and the Republic of Ireland. Its flagship shop on Piccadilly, London, is a six‑floor, 8‑mile‑long library that has become a cultural landmark, hosting the annual Waterstones Book of the Year ceremony. In addition to its extensive selection of best‑selling titles, Waterstones champions new voices through awards such as the Children’s Book Prize, the Debut Fiction Prize and the Waterstones 11, while Café W provides independent coffee bars in many branches, and friendly staff offer personalised recommendations to all visitors.
