Ulster American Folk Park
About
The Ulster American Folk Park is a living museum that takes visitors on a journey through the stories of Irish emigration to America during the 18th and 19th centuries. Spread across a rural landscape in County Tyrone, the park showcases more than 30 replica and original buildings that once sat in northern Ireland and were brought together to recreate an 18‑th‑century village and its American counterpart. Key highlights include a full‑size replica of the Brig Union ship, the historic Mellon House, and street scenes that bring the Old World and New World to life. Interactive craft demonstrations, culinary tastings and themed exhibitions such as “Bad Bridget” give visitors hands‑on insight into the hardships and hopes of early migrants. In addition to permanent displays, the park hosts seasonal events and programmes—from Christmas markets to bluegrass festivals—making it a dynamic destination for families, history enthusiasts, and school groups alike.
