About

The world's only Museum dedicated to one of the world's most extraordinary individuals, Captian Sir Richard Francis Burton (1821-1890) Burton was a famous Victorian Maverick, adventurer, spy, explorer, translator of the Kama Sutra and 1001 Arabian Nights. And much more! Entrance to the Museum is £8 and by appointment only, at an agreed time, including in the evening. 28 exhibits, including some of Burton's own artefacts, are weaved together with a soundtrack of over 30 voices that lead you through a truly astonishing life and will leave you thinking why isn't he more famous. The Museum is modeled on Burton's smoking room in Treiste, and the wonder atmosphere is further enhanced at night by Moroccan lanterns. Complimentary Moroccan mint tea is also served during your visit. And a chance to discuss Burton further with the Museum's creator, Shanty Baba. Don't expect this to be like any other Museum you have been to before.
