Hayle Heritage Centre
About
A museum for Hayle on the historic site of Harvey's Foundry. The current, free-entry exhibition "Hayle HerStory: untold women's stories at the heart of a Cornish town" celebrates the stories of women whose contributions to Hayle have largely been forgotten. The women featured include Geologist Elizabeth Carne, Cornish activist Kitty Jenner, the workforce of Cryséde Silks, champion swimmer Jessie Power, and Hayle’s Munitionettes. It showcases Cornish collections, including a sizeable display of Cryséde textiles, and presents a rare opportunity to view, for the first time here in Cornwall, paintings by the Constructivist Artist Margaret Mellis on loan from The Redfern Gallery in London, as well as original Carne Collection minerals, on loan from the Sedgwick Museum of Earth Sciences, Cambridge. The exhibition includes a new Under 5s learning and play space. An extensive programme of events will run alongside the exhibition.
