About
Newlyn Art Gallery is a contemporary art gallery, it opened in 1895 financed by John Passmore Edwards the gallery was conceived as an exhibition venue for the Newlyn School of Art; the works of which are now largely located at Penlee House Gallery & Museum in nearby Penzance. In 2007 the gallery was redeveloped, and we opened a second venue, The Exchange in Penzance. With two venues we can offer a wide and varied programme, showcasing the best of national and international contemporary art, as well as work by some of the best artists in the region. The admission fee allows entry to both galleries (Newlyn Art Gallery & The Exchange) and the ticket lasts for one year, allow a two-hour visiting time for both galleries with a 20 minute walk between them. The front desk and shop are manned by a team of volunteers and we often working with community groups leading outreach programmes. The Garden Café is situated at the back of the gallery and has beautiful views across Mount’s Bay.
