The Mawddach Trail
About
The Mawddach Trail is a 15‑kilometre, 9‑mile route that stretches along the southern shore of the Mawddach Estuary, offering visitors a gentle, flat and wide path ideal for walkers, cyclists and mobility scooter users. With its easy‑access design, the trail welcomes people of all abilities, including wheelchair users and pushchairs. The scenery is a mix of estuarine wetlands, salt marshes and historic riverbank features such as the Grade II* listed Barmouth Bridge. Along the way, several parking sites and accessible toilets are available, and the route can be joined at multiple entry points from Dolgellau to Barmouth. The distance of about six hours to cover the full length makes it suitable for a day’s outing, especially in the warmer months when the weather is clear and birds are abundant.
