Gardeners Cottage B&B
About
Gardeners Cottage B and B sits in 4.5 acres of private woodland overlooking Bakewell's showground with spectacular views of the Wye Valley. The cottage was believed to have been designed by Joseph Paxton in 1847 as the Head Gardeners Cottage serving Burton Closes Mansion House next door. The original tiered gardens, paths and steps are still visible in the wood, as are some of the old cart tracks the gardeners used to supply the 'big house' with vegetable and flowers. This beautiful stone cottage has 4 double bedroom all en suite and all furnished to a high standard. The octagonal dining room has fabulous views over the Wye Valley and the majestic woodlands that clad the opposite side of the valley. Breakfast includes hand made award winning local sausages, deli standard bacon and our famous Derbyshire Oat pancake for those with a hearty appetite. The sun terrace is a great place to enjoy a glass of wine and the stunning views of a warm summers evening before retiring to one of Bakewell's fine eating houses for diner after a day on the hills. Ivan and Francesca always offer a warm welcome to guests from all over the world.
