Pencarrow House and Gardens
About
Pencarrow House and Gardens, situated between Bodmin and Wadebridge in Cornwall, is a living Georgian manor that has belonged to the Molesworth–St Aubyn family for almost 500 years. In addition to its historic interiors—filled with rococo ceilings, painted panels, and family portraits by Joshua Reynolds and other classic artists—the property boasts 50 acres of beautifully landscaped gardens, including a formal Italian garden, an ancient hill fort, a grotto and a majestic oak–lined avenue. Visitors can explore the house on guided tours that reveal hidden passages and portraits with eyes that follow you, dine in the complimentary Peacock Café, or simply wander the pet‑friendly grounds. Families, history lovers, and garden enthusiasts will find ample charm here. The estate remains open to the public from 10 : 00 am to 5 : 00 pm Monday‑Saturday, and 10 : 00 am to 4 : 00 pm on Sundays. Sunday opening times are subject to change during peak season. Pencarrow is renowned for its accessibility: free entry is available for children under five, and pets are happily welcomed in the gardens and café. For visitors requiring assistance, a wheelchair is available on request and the house is fully accessible. Pack a picnic, bring your family, and immerse yourself in Cornwall’s rich heritage and natural beauty.
