The Ship Inn
About
The Ship Inn, often called “The Old Lady of Fowey”, is a Grade II* listed pub housed in a 15th‑century merchant’s house on Trafalgar Square. The historic building—originally built for John Rashleigh in 1570 and possibly dating back to 1435—retains many authentic features such as Killas rubble stonework, Pentewan stone dressings, and Delabole slate. Inside, a prominent open fire draws guests into a warm, winding space where the bust of Rashleigh watches over patrons. The pub offers a classic Cornish menu, lively live music (think piano from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturdays and live keyboard on Sundays) and a quiz every Sunday night that encourages group participation. For those wishing to stay overnight, traditional rooms are available with breakfast sourced from nearby farms. Operating hours are 11:30 a.m. to 11 p.m. Monday‑Saturday, and 12 p.m. to 11 p.m. on Sundays. Guests can dial 01726 832230 or email info@shipfowey.co.uk for enquiries.
