About
Jodrell Bank Observatory, situated in Lower Withington, Cheshire, is one of the world’s most iconic radio‑astronomy sites and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The visitor centre—opened in 1971 and upgraded with the modern Discovery Centre in 2011—offers interactive exhibitions, planetarium shows, a 3‑D theatre, and a glass‑walled café overlooking the famous Lovell Telescope. The site is best experienced by exploring the Lovell Telescope, the historic Mark I, II and III dishes, and the vibrant ARTSU (Arboretum and Science space) that showcases the local flora alongside a scale model of the Solar System.
