Walworth Castle Hotel
About
Walworth Castle Hotel is a beautifully preserved 16‑century Grade‑I listed castle perched on 18 acres of woodland and gardens just 2.5 miles north‑west of Darlington in County Durham. After serving as a manor house, a prison‑of‑war camp, and a boarding school for girls, the historic building was converted into a boutique hotel in 1981 and today operates as an independent Best Western property. The hotel offers 32 individually designed rooms, a private suite, a dining room overlooking the historic courtyard, and a range of event spaces, creating a rare blend of historic charm and modern comfort. Its central position on Walworth Road makes it an ideal base for exploring the scenic Tees Valley, while the castle’s heritage atmosphere is perfect for romantic getaways, business retreats, or family holidays.
