The Octagon Theatre is South Somerset’s premier arts and entertainment venue. Owned and managed by South Somerset District Council the venue welcomes over 130,000 visitors a year for a range of fantastic live performances from top quality production companies. The theatre’s programme offers something for everyone with performances for children, world-class comedy, stunning opera and dance, captivating drama and fantastic live music. The venue’s Johnson Studio is home to a busy community participatory programme: The Octagon Academy. The studio is also used by local groups for meetings and events. The venue has a popular Bistro, Prelude; a wonderful way to start your evening at with a delicious pre show meal in a relaxing atmosphere. There is also a first floor art gallery and exhibition space. The theatre’s annual professional pantomime attracts over 29,500 people from South Somerset and beyond – breaking attendance records for the last 7 consecutive years.
