White Spring Well & Temple
About
White Spring Well & Temple is a unique, candle‑lit sanctuary nestled beneath Glastonbury Tor. The Victorian‑era Well House houses three vaulted chambers, each 16‑ft high, with bowed, boat‑shaped floors that echo the shape of a hull. Water flows continuously from a silver‑calculated spring, adding a gentle hum to the tranquil interior. Inside, a collection of simple shrines honor ancient spirits and the Greatley Guardians—Brigid, Our Lady of Avalon and the King of the Fairy Realm—creating a layered pilgrimage experience. Visitors are encouraged to explore freely, with no entry fee, and are welcome to pray, meditate, or simply listen to the echoing water. The site remains open to the public during volunteer‑driven hours, offering a modest sanctuary for meditation, prayer, and reflection in an environment that feels more otherworldly than the bustling town around it.
